Mental health Initiative

For All The Brothers was created to change the view on men's mental health and the challenges that men face daily. Promoting the idea that it's ok to not be ok.

For the last 18 months we have had the pleasure of working alongside Zane, founder of For All The Brothers. With his passion for the shift towards mental health, specifically men's mental health, we have taken on board strategies and conversation points and really opened the doors on mental health.

Here’s a video of Zane that explains a bit more:

"It's been really cool having Zane on board, being a proud advocate myself for the subject. I have really tried to incorporate a new approach to a very old fashioned and hard ass world of residential construction in NZ. We open a platform for some really good chats throughout the day, really get into the fat of things. The way I see it, we spend up to 50 hours a week working alongside each other, we spend more time working together than we do with our family/friends. And it is SO important that the gears and cogs are running smoothly and we no longer hide or push feelings of negativity outside issues down. Although this doesn't happen overnight for most, it does however open the door to let people in. If I can show that it's ok to be a human, then people will follow. This also creates such a family feeling within the team making a much more powerful and efficient build for our clients"

Environmental Health Initiative

In regards to environmental issues we are putting HUGE efforts to reduce our rubbish output and focus more on recycling and reusing. Quite often surplus building materials are thrown into skip bins, all of the old material removed from the house is also thrown straight into the bin. Old colonial houses are being demolished left right and center without demolition crews having a chance to go through and pull out recyclable materials, it really is disgusting!

Although not every piece of material removed is reusable, the ones that are we will always put aside. All of the old native timber, flooring, old framing, tin and metals. We do our best to keep as much as we can away from the landfills.

Quite often we will re-purpose existing materials into furniture, donate or sell to flooring companies to run new T&G flooring, post in local community pages to donate or even if its cut up for firewood. Anything is better than going to the landfill! Check out some of the repurposed timber projects we’ve undertaken below.
